THE BEAUTY OF MAHABALESHWAR

Mahabaleshwar is a hill station with evergreen forests with a cool weather. It was established as a health resort in 1829 AD. It was a jail for Chinese and Malay convicts in 1834 to 1864 . Today, it is a popular holiday resort and honeymoon spot.

I had been at Mahabaleshwar 2 years back with my friends and i loved the place a lot. In my blog i would like to describe the beauty of Mahabaleshwar as well as talk about some of the places in Mahabaleshwar where i had been. May be i miss out something but will cover every place where i visited.

The First day when we reached Mahabaleshwar n checked in our hotel rooms we decided that we will rest for the whole day and then in the evening will visit the Maabaleshwar Market. The Mahabaleshwar market offers ultimate fun and shopping and is fully loaded with Strawberries, Chikis, Clothes, Footwears, woolen clothing, wooden toys, etc. I had done loads of shopping for me and my family.

The next day we visited different points in Mahabaleshwar. The first one was Wilson Point which is also called as Sunrise Point. There are 3 masonary round platforms to see the sunrise. Sunrise and sunset both seem to be beautiful if take a view from Platform no.2.

Connaught Peak is the second highest peak in Mahabaleshwar. It was formerly called as Mount Olympia.
Besides its challenging treks and rides, this peak offers stupendous views of  the entire Mahabaleshwar Valley.

Arthur's Seat is the queen of all points is what i believe. Its the only place  showing geographical distinction of  Konkan and Desh (Deccan), 3 territories of mahabaleshwar , so clear and near. If you go by the steps you come across a spring known as Tiger's Spring which is supposed to be the source of river Savitri.

Elphistone Point is the first point of Mahabaleshwar overlooking two valleys, Koyna on the left and Savitri on the right.

The Marjorie Point is situated on the way to Authur’s Seat. The drop-offs from this point rise from the Konkan valley. The point is about 500 meters below the Konkan valley. The Marjorie Point offers enchanting and panoramic view of the Sahyadri Ranges.

The next point we visited was Panchagani. Its the most beautiful place i have ver visited. One of the first things you notice when you drive into Panchagani is the numerous boarding schools. The famous points in Panchagani are Bhim Chula (Devil's kitchen), Harrison's Valley, Sidney point and Parsi Point. Table Land Point is the heart of Panchagani. Many of film shootings take place there. One which i remember is the song "Poocho Zara Poocho" from the film Raja Hindustani.

In the evening we visited th Mapro factory which is real temptation for passers-by. The garden today has 21 varieties of squashes, syrups, crushes and jellies varieties on display as well as sale. To add, Mapro has 6 jams, 9 flavours of ice-cream and 6 flavours of ice-cream toppings.A ‘Food Court’ or ‘Fruity Delicacies’, call whatever but Mapro Garden that is today was just an initiative by Kishore Vora, a Phamacist by occupation, in 1960s. Eventually, down the years the meagre initiative graduated into a full-fledged business converting Mapro into a delight for foodies. Mapro Garden is a favourite snack halt for travellers and visitors.

While on the way back to the hotel room, we decide to visit a Strawberry Farm which belonged to the cousin of the Hotel owner. The farm owner gave us a lot of knowledge about strawberry cultivation. He told us that May to June is actually right time to see and pluck ripe strawberries. However, another round of best season to quench the crunch for vivacious red fruits returns in the months of October to May. At the end we were offered Strawberry shake with Ice cream and believ me it was yummy.

On the 3rd and last day of our trip we visited the Pratapgad fort on our way back to home. The Pratapgad Fort was built by More Tirmal Pingale on the command of Shivaji Maharaj to control the rebellious satraps of the surrounding Javali Basin built Pratapgad Fort in 1656. It is believed that Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was blessed with a shining sword at the temple of Goddess Bhavani here. The historic battle between Chatrapati Shivaji and Afzal Khan, the commander of the Bijapur Sultanate fought here. Bhavani Temple and Afzal Khan's Tomb are major attractions where are situated near the fort.

With this we finished with the whole journey of Mahabaleshwar and i still remember every place i visited and i cherish every moment of the trip.

Thanks and Regards
